Babson University
Tomasso Lawn
Babson’s Leonard A. Schlesinger Innovation Center was completed in 2015 and is sited at the center of campus as a working laboratory for business invention and entrepreneurship.
The building frames a sloping lawn to the west – Tomasso Lawn – which creates a new outdoor heart of campus.
Benches on the lawn provide seating for informal and formal outdoor events. A new grove of Honeylocust trees will provide a canopy of dappled shade over time. LED lighting on the benches provides evening interest, and a diagonal pathway achieves universal accessibility in a graceful fashion. The lawn is anchored at the bottom by a cobble plaza which is used for student events. Peter was Principal Landscape Architect for this project while at Sasaki.
